Should Students Hire Editors?

Some people say there is a fine line between hiring help and cheating on essay papers. Well, that may be true. That line may exist but hiring help is on the good side of that line. Every student can use help now and then, some possibly more than others. This is okay. It is better to admit the need for assistance than to go without it.

The difference between hiring help and cheating often lies with the type of assistance being asked for. Paying someone to research, write, and edit the entire paper, is indeed cheating. This process deceives the instructor and makes it seem like the student has more knowledge and skill than they truly have. Hiring someone to edit the paper, and even completely overhaul the writing, is not typically considered cheating, and for a very good reason.

When a student already has the paper written, but not up to par, it simply means they may have trouble with English or with writing. This hardship may be due to learning disabilities, lack of understanding of the language, or otherwise. Some students simply have difficulty putting words on paper. Whatever the case, it does not mean a lack of knowledge concerning the essay topic. It means they need help.

Students come of all ages and all abilities. It is important that they receive the education they want or need to accomplish their goals. Improving their grades by submitting well-written papers can be essential for this cause. As a result, an editor may be required. In fact, it is recommended.

If you are a student or know of any that could use an editor, whether for a high school paper or for a thesis or anywhere in between those two ends of the spectrum, ask for help. There is assistance available any time of the year.
